​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment

The Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment (AGDRP) provides one-off financial assistance to eligible Australians adversely affected by the North Queensland Rainfall and Flooding (December 2025 – January 2026)

The rate of AGDRP is $1000 per eligible adult and $400 per eligible child. Claims for this payment can be lodged with Services Australia for a period up to 6 months.

AGDRP is available for people who have been seriously injured, have lost their homes or whose homes have been directly damaged, whose major assets have been directly damaged or are the immediate family members of an Australian citizen or resident who has died as a direct result of the North Queensland Rainfall and Flooding (December 2025 – January 2026).

You have until 19 September 2026 to lodge a claim for AGDRP in the two (2) local government areas of Bundaberg and Western Downs. Please note: AGDRP for this event is only available in specific suburbs in these two declared LGAs. Refer to the Services Australia website for the list of suburbs.

New Zealand Disaster Recovery Payment

The New Zealand Disaster Recovery Payment (NZ DRP) is available to eligible New Zealand 'non-protected' special category visa (SCV) (subclass 444) holders who have been adversely affected by the North Queensland Rainfall and Flooding (December 2025 – January 2026).

The payment rate is $1000 per eligible adult, and $400 per eligible child. Claims for this payment can be lodged with Services Australia for a period of 6 months.

The payment is available for non-protected SCV holders who have been seriously injured, have lost their homes or whose homes have been directly damaged, whose major assets have been directly damaged or are the immediate family members of an Australian citizen or resident who has died as a direct result of the North Queensland Rainfall and Flooding (December 2025 – January 2026).

You have until 19 September 2026 to lodge a claim for NZ DRP in the two (2) local government areas of Bundaberg and Western Downs. Please note: NZ DRP for this event is only available in specific suburbs in these two declared LGAs. Refer to the Services Australia website for the list of suburbs.

The Disaster Recovery Allowance (DRA) provides income support payments to employees, primary producers and sole traders who can demonstrate they have experienced a loss of income as a direct result of a declared major disaster.

DRA provides fortnightly payments for up to 13 weeks up to the applicable rate of JobSeeker Payment or Youth Allowance, depending on the person's circumstances.

DRA is available to Australian residents who are 16 years and older.

DRA is not available to those already receiving another income support payment or pension such as the Age Pension, JobSeeker Payment or Service Pension.

For the North Queensland Flooding, you have until 19 September 2026 to lodge a claim for DRA in the twenty-four (24) LGAs of Aurukun, Barcaldine, Burdekin, Burke, Carpentaria, Cassowary Coast, Central Highlands, Cloncurry, Croydon, Doomadgee, Etheridge, Flinders, Isaac, Livingstone, Mackay, McKinlay, Mount Isa, Palm Island, Pormpuraaw, Richmond, Townsville, Whitsunday, Winton and Yarrabah.

For the Queensland Flooding, you have until 23 October 2026 to lodge a claim for DRA in the forty-two (42) LGAs of Aurukun, Banana, Barcaldine, Boulia, Bundaberg, Burdekin, Burke, Carpentaria, Cassowary Coast, Central Highlands, Charters Towers, Cloncurry, Cook, Croydon, Diamantina, Doomadgee, Douglas, Etheridge, Flinders, Fraser Coast, Gladstone, Gympie, Hope Vale, Isaac, Kowanyama, Livingstone, Mackay, McKinlay, Mount Isa, North Burnett, Palm Island, Pormpuraaw, Richmond, Rockhampton, South Burnett, Townsville, Weipa, Western Downs, Whitsunday, Winton, Wujal Wujal and Yarrabah.​

The joint Australian, state and territory governments’ Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) provide a range of financial assistance to the natural disaster-declared areas in each state or territory.

Additional Recovery Assistance Measures

Under the DRFA, the following extraordinary assistance measures have been activated for this disaster:

Community Relief Fund - provides a grant to the ten (10) LGAs of Bundaberg, Cook, Etheridge, Isaac, Livingstone, Mackay, McKinlay, Rockhampton, Whitsunday and Winton to support councils with the delivery of essential immediate recovery activities, including clean-up.

Coordinated Emergency Fodder Support Package – This package will provide emergency fodder via helicopters to heavily impacted areas and be distributed by the Local Councils. This package is available in the ten (10) local government areas of Boulia, Carpentaria, Cloncurry, Croydon, Diamantina, Etheridge, Flinders, McKinlay, Richmond and Winton.

Recovery grants of up to $75,000 are available for eligible primary producers to help with recovery and reinstatement activities – These grants are available in the twenty-six (26) local government areas of Banana, Barcaldine, Boulia, Bundaberg, Carpentaria, Cassowary Coast, Central Highlands, Cloncurry, Cook, Croydon, Diamantina, Etheridge, Flinders, Fraser Coast, Gladstone, Gympie, Isaac, Livingstone, Longreach, Mackay, McKinlay, North Burnett, Richmond, South Burnett, Whitsunday and Winton.

Recovery grants of up to $50,000 are available for eligible small businesses to help with recovery and reinstatement activities - These grants are available in the twenty-eight (28) local government areas of Aurukun, Boulia, Bundaberg, Burdekin, Burke, Carpentaria, Cassowary Coast, Cloncurry, Cook, Croydon, Diamantina, Douglas, Etheridge, Flinders, Gladstone, Isaac, Mackay, McKinlay, Mount Isa, Palm Island, Pormpuraaw, Richmond, Townsville, Weipa, Western Downs, Whitsunday, Winton and Yarrabah. 

Small Business Recovery Assistance Grants of up to $15,000 are available to eligible small businesses indirectly impacted by the floods due to isolation, access disruptions and supply chain constraints – These grants are available in the five (5) LGAs of Carpentaria, Cook, Douglas, Isaac and Weipa.

Recovery grants of up to $50,000 are available for eligible not for profit organisations to help with recovery and reinstatement activities - These grants are available in the twenty-two (22) local government areas of Banana, Bundaberg, Carpentaria, Cassowary Coast, Central Highlands, Charters Towers, Cook, Douglas, Doomadgee, Etheridge, Flinders, Isaac, Livingstone, Mackay, McKinlay, Richmond, Rockhampton, Townsville, Weipa, Western Downs, Whitsunday and Winton.​

Additional Recovery Packages

Cloncurry Airport Recovery and Renewal Project - This package will provide support to repair flood damage and enhance the resilience of Cloncurry Airport.

Mental Health Recovery Program - This package provides individual and family therapeutic interventions across the continuum of care for people that have been directly impacted by the event.​

Primary Production Support Package - This package provides support to primary producers in order to speed up recovery and increase resilience by focussing areas such as finances, production and business needs. This package also includes funding for invasive pest and weed control and management. 

Environmental Recovery Program - This package provides funding to support medium to longer-term environmental recovery particularly within national parks.

Betterment Program - This package is available to to improve the disaster resilience of damaged essential infrastructure. ​

Community Development Program - This package is available to improve the wellbeing of impacted and vulnerable Queenslanders, offering rebuilding advice, preparedness initiatives, financial guidance and social services.

Sport and Community Recreational Assets Program - This package provides grants to assist with the clean-up and repair of impacted community sports and recreational facilities.
