How to help

We continue to receive offers of help from individuals, groups, domestic organisations and the global community.

These requests are being worked through in close consultation with the states and territories to work out the best options to support our emergency service personnel and fire-affected communities.

Financial donations may be made directly to emergency service agencies or to various established charities.

There are over 6000 registered charities working in bushfire affected regions that may be seeking a range of support and volunteers. See the list of endorsed registered charities.

This list has been provided by the Australian Treasury, Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) and will be progressively updated.

If you are a registered charity with tax deductible gift recipient (DGR) status working to support bushfire relief and recovery efforts and do not appear on the list, please contact

If you wish to donate to other charities not on our list for bushfire recovery efforts, we recommend you check the ACNC Charity Register.

Reporting bushfire scams

Scamwatch is warning the community to be careful when making donations to support bushfire charities and fund raising initiatives. Unfortunately during times of natural disasters scammers will pretend to represent legitimate or well-known charities or fund raising organisations, or set up their own fake fund raising pages on social media or fund raising platforms.

The community can report scams to Scamwatch.

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) has also set up a dedicated bushfire scams to report bushfire related scams. People can call 1300 795 995 to report bushfire scams.
