The Australian Government will contribute $1 million to the Victorian Floods Appeal

Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment

Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA)

This assistance is provided through the joint Australian and State government Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) and applies to the natural disaster declared areas in each state.

NDRRA assistance is being made available to 29 Local Government Areas:

  • Ballarat
  • Buloke
  • Campaspe
  • Central Goldfields
  • Corangamite
  • Gannawarra
  • Glenelg
  • Golden Plains
  • Greater Bendigo
  • Greater Geelong
  • Greater Shepparton
  • Hepburn
  • Hindmarsh
  • Horsham
  • Loddon
  • Macedon Ranges
  • Mildura
  • Mitchell
  • Mount Alexander
  • Moyne
  • Murrindindi
  • Northern Grampians
  • Pyrenees
  • Surf Coast
  • Swan Hill
  • Warrnambool
  • West Wimmera
  • Yarriambiack

The following personal hardship and distress assistance is available in all areas:

  • Emergency Grants of up to $1067 to provide assistance to meet immediate basic needs
  • temporary living expense grants of up to $8650 to assist households with the cost of temporary accommodation and living expenses, and
  • re-establishment grants of up to $8650 for repairs to structural damage to a residence and $8650 to replace essential household contents such as furnishings and electrical goods.

Assistance for the restoration of essential public assets is available in all areas.

Clean up and restoration grants of up to $25,000 for primary producers and small businesses are available in areas of Ararat, Ballarat, Buloke, Campaspe, Central Goldfields, Corangamite, Gannawarra, Glenelg, Golden Plains, Greater Bendigo, Greater Geelong, Greater Shepparton, Hepburn, Horsham, Loddon, Macedon Ranges, Mildura, Mitchell, Mount Alexander, Moyne, Murrindindi, Northern Grampians, Pyrenees, Surf Coast, Warrnambool, West Wimmera and Yarriambiack.

'On 11 June 2011 the Prime Minister agreed to contribute financial support under Category D of the NDRRA for extended concessional loans to businesses, primary producers and not-for-profit organisations. Concessional loans are available for up to $650,000 over 10 years, with a grant component capped at $50,000, for eligible weather events between January 2011 and March 2011.' ​​​​
