On 13 and 14 November 2015 a series of terrorist attacks in central Paris killed at last 129 people, injured more than 250 and impacted a number of Australians.
Australian Victim of Terrorism Overseas Payment
On 16 December 2015, the Prime Minister declared these attacks in Paris for the purposes of the Australian Victim of Overseas Payment (AVTOP) scheme. This means that Australian residents harmed as a direct result of the Paris attacks may seek a one-off payment of financial assistance of up to $75,000.
