On the evening of 22 May 2017, a suicide bomber detonated a bomb in the exit foyer of the Manchester Arena in Manchester, United Kingdom, following an Ariana Grande concert. The attack killed 22 people and at least another 64 were injured.
Australian Victim of Terrorism Overseas Payment
On 5 July 2017, the Prime Minister declared the attack in Manchester for the purposes of the Australian Victim of Overseas Payment (AVTOP) scheme. This means that Australian residents harmed or whose close family member dies as a direct result of the attack in Manchester may seek a one-off payment of financial assistance of up to $75,000.
