Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA)
This assistance is provided through the joint Australian and State government Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) and applies to the natural disaster declared areas in each state.
NDRRA assistance for the Victorian flooding event which occurred on the 4 September 2010 has been made available to the 34 local government areas of Alpine Shire, Ballarat City, Benalla Rural City, Buloke Shire, Campaspe Shire, Central Goldfields Shire, East Gippsland Shire, Gannawarra Shire, Glenelg Shire, Golden Plains Shire, Greater Bendigo City, Greater Geelong Shire, Greater Shepparton City, Hepburn Shire, Hindmarsh Shire, Horsham Rural City, Indigo Shire, Loddon Shire, Mansfield Shire, Mitchell Shire, Moira Shire, Mount Alexander Shire, Murrindindi Shire, Northern Grampians Shire, Pyrenees Shire, Strathbogie Shire, Swan Hill Rural City, Towong Shire, Wangaratta Rural City, Wellington Shire, Wodonga Shire, Wyndham city, Yarra Ranges Shire and Yarriambiack Shire.
Personal hardship and distress assistance is available in all areas:
- Emergency Grants of up to $427 per adult and $213 per child to a maximum of $1067 per household. This grant is not means tested and is designed to cover immediate assistance for people in urgent need of food, clothing, and shelter.
- Temporary Living Expenses of up to $865 a week per household for a maximum of 10 weeks for people whose principal residence is unfit to live in or inaccessible for more than one week. This grant is income tested and is designed to cover expenses for temporary accommodation and transport costs not covered by insurance.
- Re-establishment Grants of up to $8650 for structural repairs and up to $8650 for household items to help residents re-establish house structures and essential content items that were not insured. This grant is income tested.
