The Australian Government Disaster Assist website provides individuals and families better access to information about recovery assistance following a disaster. Assistance from the Australian Government may be provided to aid the recovery of Australians most affected by an offshore or onshore disaster. In such cases, this website will have up to date public information messages, relevant free call numbers, information on Australian Government Assistance Packages and links to other relevant websites.
The information on this website will be continually updated and we encourage you to regularly revisit the site for additional information as required.

Assistance for Individuals
Since November 2010 more than 726,615 payments of the Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment (AGDRP) have been made, totalling $836 million (as at midnight 20 January 2012).
More than 61,929 payments of the Disaster Income Recovery Subsidy have been made, totalling over $74 million (as at midnight 9 December 2011).
More than 3,401 Ex Gratia payments have been made, worth over $4 million (as at midnight 9 December 2011).
The Department of Human Services, through Centrelink, deliver these payments on behalf of the Australian Government.
