Assistance

The Prime Minister has announced additional Commonwealth support in the form of cash payments to people who have lost their principal place of residence or had it rendered uninhabitable as a result of the January and February 2007 bushfires in the Dwellingup and Porongurup areas of Western Australia.  The cash payments will amount to $1,000 for each eligible adult and $400 for each eligible child.

Western Australians who are entitled to this assistance will now be able to apply immediately by calling the Australian Government Bushfire Assistance hotline on 1802233. Information about how to claim is also available from Centrelink’s website.
