North Queensland Floods - January/February 2009

On 31 January 2009, Tropical Cyclone Ellie caused a rain depression in Far North/Northern Queensland resulting in substantial flooding to townships between Townsville and Cairns. Over 3,000 homes in the Ingham area have been affected by these floods with flooding also reported through Ingham businesses and town centre.

On 6 and 7 February 2009, further heavy rain caused additional flooding to areas already impacted and other areas. Ingham received another 236mm of rain which raised the floodwaters to over 12.5 metres.
