Gippsland Storms and Floods

Given the extensive damage caused by the storms and associated flooding in the Gippsland region of Victoria in June 2007, the Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment has been activated to assist those who have been adversely affected as a direct result of this disaster.

Assistance

Australian Government assistance is available to people who have been seriously injured or whose principal place of residence has been destroyed, or rendered uninhabitable in the recent storms and associated flooding in the Gippsland region of Victoria. This assistance will amount to $1000 per eligible adult and $400 per eligible child. Claims for this assistance can be lodged until 28 December 2007.

Additional Assistance

A $1 million Community Recovery Fund has been jointly established by the Australian and Victorian Governments to assist communities recover from the effects of the June 2007 storms and associated flooding.  For more information, visit the Victorian Department of Human Services website.
