2006 Egypt Bombings Assistance

Australian Government assistance available for the survivors of the 24 April 2006 Dahab Terrorist Bombings in Egypt.

The purpose of this assistance package is to assist Australians seriously injured by the 24 April 2006 Dahab Terrorist Bombings in Egypt returning to Australia with out-of-pocket travel costs, where they have no other means to pay for such travel. This can include costs of support people who are required to support and accompany the seriously injured.

To be eligible to receive assistance, the applicants must:

  • be an Australian citizen, a New Zealand citizen residing in Australia, or a citizen of another country who is residing in Australia and has a permanent resident visa.

For travel, accommodation and related costs the following people may be eligible to receive assistance:

  • Australians who were seriously injured in the 24 April 2006 Dahab Terrorist Bombings in Egypt; (for example those who were hospitalised for at least 48 hours or who suffered severe psychological trauma), and one adult support person (immediate adult family member or a carer for medical reasons if the person has special needs).

Assistance is not available where an applicant has received similar assistance through their insurance company or by other means.

  • Support to Seriously Injured Person whilst in hospital in Australia
  • Personal Assistance
  • Assistance with out of pocket health care costs*

Lodgement of Claims

Applicants will have until 31 December 2006 to lodge a claim for this payment.
