Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment (AGDRP)
The payment is to provide one-off financial assistance to eligible Australians adversely affected by the disaster in the following Local Government Areas (LGAs) of:
- Central Highlands
- Glamorgan-Spring Bay
- Sorell
- Tasman.
The payment has also been made available to eligible Australians adversely affected by the disaster in the District of Ellendale.
The AGDRP rate is $1,000 per eligible adult and $400 per eligible child. Claims for this payment can be lodged at the Department of Human Services (Centrelink) for a period of up to six months.
You have until 8 July 2013 to lodge a claim for the following Local Government Areas:
- Glamorgan-Spring Bay
- Sorell
- Tasman.
You have until 9 September 2013 to lodge a claim for the District of Ellendale and Central Highlands LGA.

Ex gratia payment for New Zealand non-protected Special Category Visa holders
An ex gratia payment is being provided to eligible New Zealand 'non protected' Special Category Visa (SCV) holders who have been affected by the disaster in Tasmania. This applies to SCV holders in eligible disaster declared LGAs of:
- Central Highlands
- Glamorgan-Spring Bay
- Sorell
- Tasman.
The payment has also been made available in the district of Ellendale.
The payment rate is $1,000 per eligible adult and $400 per eligible child. Claims for this payment can be lodged at the Department of Human Services (Centrelink) for a period of up to six months. You have until 16 July 2013 to lodge a claim for this assistance.

Disaster Income Recovery Subsidy (DIRS)
The DIRS will provide assistance to employees, small business persons and farmers who can demonstrate they have experienced a loss of income as a direct result of the bushfires in Tasmania. The subsidy is being made available to individuals in the following LGAs:
You have until 7 October 2013 to lodge a claim for DIRS in the above LGAs.
The subsidy provides fortnightly payments equivalent to the maximum rate of Newstart Allowance, depending on the person's circumstances.
The Disaster Income Recovery Subsidy is available to Australian residents or eligible foreign nationals who are older than 16. 'Eligible foreign nationals' include people who are on permanent visas (but who have not yet met the residency waiting period) and people who are on temporary skilled visas or temporary family visas. The subsidy is not available to those already receiving another income support payment or pension such as Age Pension, Newstart Allowance, Service Pension or Exceptional Circumstances Relief Payment. The subsidy is payable for a period of up to 13 weeks.

Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements
The joint Commonwealth and State/Territory Government NDRRA can provide a range of financial assistance to the natural disaster declared areas in each state.
Funding available includes:
- personal hardship and distress assistance
- counter disaster operations
- restoration of essential public assets
in the affected Local Government Areas of:
- Central Highlands
- Circular Head
- Derwent Valley
- Glamorgan-Spring Bay
- Sorell
- Tasman.

In addition, clean-up and recovery grants of up to $25,000 are available for affected small businesses, primary producers and not-for-profit organisations in the following three LGAs:
- Glamorgan-Spring Bay
- Sorell
- Tasman.
Clean-up and recovery grants of up to $25,000 are also available to eligible primary producers impacted by the Lake Repulse fire in the following two LGAs:
- Central Highlands
- Derwent Valley.
